Quitting tobacco is hard — but you can do it!

You know that smoking is bad for your health. Once you quit, however, you will start to see changes in your health very quickly:

  • You will breathe easier
  • Your circulation will start to improve
  • Your heart rate and blood pressure will begin to return to normal
  • Your senses of smell and taste improve
  • You will experience less coughing and wheezing

Even more important, quitting tobacco will lower your risk of developing heart disease, many types of cancer and other serious health problems, as well as premature death.

Union Hospital and the Cecil County Health Department offer stop-smoking help, including one-on-one confidential consultations and a nicotine patch program for eligible residents. Call 410-996-5168.
