  • Emergency Urgent Care
    • Union Hospital’s Emergency Department is pleased to offer the community Emergency Urgent Care. With Urgent Care, patients who have minor injuries are quickly routed to a treatment room. A qualified nurse practitioner, physician or physician assistant will evaluate their needs and decide on a treatment plan. The Urgent Care operates 16 hours a day from 9 a.m. to 1 a.m., 7 days a week.
  • Forensic Nurse Examiners
    • Union Hospital Forensic Nurse Examiners are specially trained and licensed by the Maryland Board of Nursing to provide comprehensive care to victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, child and elder abuse.
    • Special training and experience in helping victims of violence enables them to:
      • Treat men, women and adolescents who have been assaulted.
      • Evaluate and care for injuries resulting from violence
      • Provide treatment to help prevent sexually transmitted infections that may result from sexual assault
      • Initiate crisis intervention when needed.
      • Provide emotional support
      • Arrange medical and psychological follow-up.
      • Collect and document legal evidence of the assault
      • Testify in court

  • There are two separate entrances to the ED – one for ambulatory patients and one for ambulances. In addition, there is a special decontamination room near the ambulance entrance that has a separate door so patients can be cleansed from hazardous substances without contaminating other areas of the ED
