Childbirth and Family Education

We are excited to present our current in-person classes and services to meet your Family Education needs.

We are currently offering two educational classes for parents.

Saturday Express Childbirth Education Class

This class meets every other month (dates below) and covers pregnancy, labor, delivery (vaginal and c-section), postpartum care and newborn care. Our classes will inspire, educate and alleviate any fears you may have about this exciting time of your life.

Topics include signs of labor, Lamaze breathing techniques, relaxation, comfort measures, birth plans, possible interventions, cesarean birth, medications and epidurals. Whether your birth plan is for a natural birth, an epidural, or a cesarean birth, we have all the information you need. This class is offered one Saturday every other month.

It is recommended that you begin to inquire about scheduling classes between 24-28 weeks of pregnancy.

Breastfeeding Education Class & Resources

Prenatal Breastfeeding Class

We are now offering in-person Prenatal Breastfeeding Basics Classes every other month beginning March 4, 2025! The classes are held on the first Tuesday of the month. Topics covered in this class: The golden hour, getting the best start, breast pump selection and when to start pumping, proper positioning and latching as well as feeding expectations through the first year of life.

TLC (The Lactation Club) – Breastfeeding support group
Meeting in person every Wednesday 10 – 11:30am at ChristianaCare, Union Hospital. Come to the Welcome Desk at the Main Entrance for directions to the meeting room.

Outpatient Visits
Outpatient visits are available with our Internationally Board-Certified Lactation Consultant

Childbirth & Family Education Services & Support
Regardless of where your baby was born, these services are available to our community at no cost.
