Childbirth & Family Education

We are excited to present our current in-person classes and services to meet your Family Education needs.

We are currently offering three educational classes for parents.

Weekday Childbirth Classes

This class meets on four Tuesdays every other month (dates are listed below) and covers pregnancy, labor, delivery (vaginal and c-section), postpartum care and newborn care. Our classes will inspire, educate and alleviate any fears you may have about this exciting time of your life.

Topics include signs of labor, breathing techniques, relaxation, comfort measures, birth plans, possible interventions, cesarean birth, medications and epidurals. Whether your birth plan is for an unmedicated birth, an epidural, or a cesarean birth, we have all the information you need.

For the greatest benefit to you, it is recommended that you attend a class that occurs when you are at 28-36 weeks gestation.

Saturday Express Childbirth Education Class

This class meets on one Saturday every month (dates are listed below) and covers pregnancy, labor, delivery (vaginal and c-section), postpartum care and newborn care. Our classes will inspire, educate and alleviate any fears you may have about this exciting time of your life.

Breastfeeding Education Class & Resources

Prenatal Breastfeeding Class

We are currently offering in-person Prenatal Breastfeeding Basics Classes every other month. The classes are held on one Tuesday during the month. Topics covered in this class include: The golden hour, getting the best start, breast pump selection and when to start pumping, proper positioning and latching as well as feeding expectations through the first year of life.

TLC (The Lactation Club) – Breastfeeding support group
Meeting in person every Wednesday 10 – 11:30am at ChristianaCare, Union Hospital. Come to the Welcome Desk at the Main Entrance for directions to the meeting room.

Outpatient Visits
Outpatient visits are available with our Internationally Board-Certified Lactation Consultant

Childbirth & Family Education Services & Support
Regardless of where your baby was born, these services are available to our community at no cost.
