Because kids are different from adults and need specialized care, Nemours and Union Hospital have teamed up to offer advanced pediatric care around-the-clock.
Nemours’ pediatric hospitalists (physicians solely devoted to caring for hospitalized children) are here for you and your family at Union Hospital to provide advanced inpatient hospital care, including:
- medical care for children on Union Hospital’s pediatric units
- consultations in the hospital’s emergency department — available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Union Hospital offers a family-centered emergency department designed for families with children, featuring kid-friendly equipment, exam rooms and waiting area.
- newborn consultations in Union Hospital’s Maternal and Infant Center. Nemours pediatric hospitalists attend all high-risk deliveries, care for newborns in the newborn nursery and stabilize sick newborns for transport, if necessary.
Our pediatric hospitalists can rapidly reach out and consult with Nemours’ pediatric cardiologists and other specialists as needed. We also offer a telehealth connection (using advanced electronic information and telecommunications technologies to support our delivery of the best health care possible) between Union Hospital and the specialists at the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, Del.
Our pediatric hospitalists can also supervise and facilitate the transfer of any extremely ill pediatric patients at Union Hospital to duPont Hospital for Children.
