UGI, Barium Swallow and/or Small Bowel studies

Do not eat or drink anything 6-8 hours before your exam time
(small bowel studies can last from 20 minutes to over two hours).

BE, BEAC or IVP

Your physician should give you a script for a bowel cleansing prep.  Do not eat anything 4-6 hours before the scheduled time of your exam.  You may drink water.

Video Swallow or Modified Barium Swallow

There is no preparation for this exam.
