Surgical Services
The Surgical Services department at Union Hospital includes an OR suite comprised of six rooms for major and minor surgery, urological and endoscopic procedures. Our experienced, skilled teams perform over 7,000 surgical procedures annually on both an inpatient and outpatient basis. The Perianesthesia section of Surgical Services includes a 14 bed unit utilized for preoperative and post anesthesia phase 2 patient care, as well as a 9 bed phase 1 post anesthesia care unit. Construction meetings are underway for a new department including state-of-the art OR and endoscopy center, Same Day Suite and PACU.

Management style:
The director and leadership team within surgical services is participative. The director and manager have open door policies and are accessible to staff around the clock. Surgical Services functions under the shared governance model and has a unit-based governance council where staff representatives from each unit participate with decision making and the improvement of patient care.
