Observation Unit

The 2 South Unit is comprised of 11 rooms, with a combination of private and semi private rooms dedicated to the care of adult observation and in-patient pediatrics. We are proud to share that each 2 South team member has a broad and high level clinical skill set. On-going education and clinical competency validation are provided to staff to ensure our adult and pediatric patients receive exceptional care. Every room is filled with all new furnishings and decorations to provide the "comforts of home" for our patients and families. A new nursery is scheduled to be built this year, which will provide an appropriate environment for our medically fragile babies that have been diagnosed with Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome. Our team of nurses and support staff are professionals that strive for service excellence while delivering compassionate, evidence-based care to our patients. 

Level of technology:

  • All documentation is on the Meditech system which provides an electronic nursing status board, user friendly screens for charting, and computerized physician order entry
  • Computers on wheels for real time documentation at the bedside
  • Enhanced patient safety with BMV/EMAR, Meditech software that uses bar coding technology to verify the five "Rights" when administering medications and electronic medication administration record for real time documentation
  • Computerized safeguard using the Pyxis medication dispensing system
