Union Hospital Invites Community Members to Join Our Patient & Family Centered Care Advisory Council
Have you ever wanted to influence the care you or your family members receive while a patient in the hospital? Are you interested in health care and want to ensure the best use of health care resources? Do you want to learn more about the programs and activities of your local hospital? If so, Union Hospital has a unique opportunity for you!
As part of our implementation of an innovative patient and family centered care model, we are creating a Patient & Family Centered Care Advisory Council. This Council will draw on specific experiences of patients, families, and health care teams to influence and enhance the quality and culture of care. The council reinforces our belief that patients and families have a unique expertise and knowledge that is essential to improving services, while also recognizing that patient and family satisfaction impacts positively on treatment outcomes.
Applications for membership on the council are currently being accepted.
We are looking for family members of past and current patients, primary caretakers, patients, and even our own staff. Applicants do not need any specific background or experience to serve on the Patient & Family Advisory Council, but you should meet the following guidelines:
• Be able to share both positive and negative experiences in a constructive way
• Reach out broadly and listen to other patients, families, health care providers and community members
• Respect the collaborative process in the council as a forum to discuss issues
• Be willing to listen to differing views
• Encourage all council members to share ideas and viewpoints
Members are asked to serve on the council for a minimum of one year.
