Community Building Activities
These programs, partnerships and/or activities address the root causes of health problems, like poverty, homelessness or environmental issues. These problems can be addressed through in-kind donations and budgeted expenditures for the development of community health initiatives.
Examples of how we contribute to community building activities:
- Project Echo
- Providing notary services
- Working with the Cecil Leadership Institute to educate business leaders on the economic impact that Union Hospital has on Cecil County
- Collaborating with the Drug-Effected Newborns group to promote awareness to the community about babies born with addictions to methadone
- Collaborating with Social Services and the Health Department to facilitate resource development and placement opportunities for behavioral health patients
- Mentoring at-risk students through our Gilpin Manor Elementary School Partnership
- Facilitating health career awareness through career days in middle schools throughout Cecil County
