Community Benefit
Union Hospital is committed to enhancing the health and well-being of the residents in Cecil County. In keeping with this mission, the hosiptal continuously supportsthe community by reinvesting staff time, efforts and resources into improving community health. This is known as Community Benefit.
Union Hospital staff is expected to contribute by:

Providing community health and health professions education;

Creating or improving access to health care services for vulnerable or underserved populations, like the homeless or low-income neighborhoods;

Providing in-kind support through time and talents; and/or
-
Promoting community building activities.
As part of Community Benefit, Union Hospital is required to identify community health needs through a Community Health Needs Assessment. To help realize this effort Union Hospital has contracted with Healthy Communities Institute to provide community health data and resources for Cecil County. Utilizing this information will help Union Hospital understand the needs of Cecil County and provide a more comprehensive outlook on the health profile of the community.
